How exciting
So many of us do things - a job, a family, a hobby perhaps a passion. But when you start something that has the potential to reach, to entertain, hundreds even thousands of people it takes a while to hit. Sure at first there are the many decisions and so many mini-projects going on. Long days even some long nights building not just what was needed to become an Internet communication station but to become an actual, well, Thing. A noun; something that is. OGR became an entity.
Even now after we have done a few shows we still are finding our identity meaning OGR is finding its identity. We had decided to appeal to Baby Boomers. Why?? Well mostly because so many of us are BBs. But there are many Oldies Stations out there. That is when we made another decision. We are not just an oldies station but one for Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers are not a static group but a dynamic ever changing portion of the population. My tastes in music today are far different than they were in the 1960's. Yet I often feel lost in today's maze of music complexity. But throughout my aging I have cut a path through the mass of oncoming music. In my life, I knew what I liked in the radio world. I knew what I did not. I DID like some of the old stuff, but that was a finite sample, there was no more 60's and 70's music being recorded, but I was attracted to some of the new stuff that was out there. Additionally many older recording artists had not died off and dried up their abilities, no they were still recording and as we listened we found many of their new stuff was exactly to the tastes of our advanced tastes. It was on this that a new segment of OGR was born.
Our new Old Music. What many of you BBs may have never heard along with the very familiar. Won't you join us in this great endeavor? Set your computer to hear Our Generation Radio and we will do our best to play the music you grew up with and introduce you to the music you can live with --- Not just being alive, but really live with. Remember we are the generation that refuses to grow old!

The Silent Lunatic Fringe?
I have no clue how this happened. I really don't. Last night I started to have something akin to an allergic reaction but for the live of me, I cannot figure out what I got into that would make me break out in a rash and get to itchin'. I took a benadryl before bed and all was good. Until this morning that is. I woke up with no voice!! My throat hurts, which is odd since I have no glands in there to hurt (had the tonsils removed when I was 12 or so). So, probably for the rest of the week, I will not be on... I am trying not to talk as much as possible, just in case I actually have to (emergency or what have ya).
I will keep everyone up to date. I apologise you cannot get your insanity fix. I know, I miss it too. *cries*

No Lunatic Fringe for Friday
That is right... seems the headache I had yesterday bloomed into a full blown migraine!! I am attempting to get rid of it as we speak. I have been given permission to get into the Holy Vicodin bottle, so that should help. See you on Monday, promise.

You Missed It
We had a great inaugural show (wow sounding political). We did in fact work in some politics. Played some comedy, chatted in the chat room and had listeners help program the station. All in all had fun and look forward to next week show.

Updates for all the hard workers
Here is the text of an article posted on two Chicagoland papers:
Construction Is Not Always Visible
Our Generation Radio To Debut
You won't hear saws cutting, trucks rumbling or jackhammers hammering, but major construction is going on in Tinley Park. If measured in key clicks and megabytes of code the undertaking is huge. Local Internet Radio Disk Jockeys, ArJohn and JimmyB (The AnJ Show) have gone from station to station looking for a home. Veteran personalities on the Internet (I [ArJohn] began in 1998, JimmyB was a frequent guest and popular addition to the show) radio scene. In the last year the two irreverent, wacky and outspoken distributors of music, comedy and comment just could not find a fit. Tied with the poor economic conditions, artistic freedom issues and just plain chemistry, they worked and left three stations. Along with them were a nucleus of on-air, production, web design and management people that were looking for more. While I (ArJohn) have little to do with the construction of the new station, JimmyB, Dick Wrigley and Jitar have been putting in plenty of hours, most likely sweat and perhaps even blood and tears.
What exactly are we building? Well Internet radio is certainly not new. As I mentioned earlier I have been doing this since 1998. What is new a different is our veering away from trying to be all things for everyone and align with the people we know best; the people who grew up with the radio we know, from the Top Forty DJ to the beginnings of chatter and downright irreverence of the morning and overnight shows of the past. Get ready world because Our Generation Radio (OGR) is coming. Tune in today by visiting us at www.ourgenerationradio.com.
When we say the 50's, 60's and 70's are ages not decades, we mean these are the ages of the Baby Boomers. While many Internet Radio stations today really give us little more than Ipods you can't carry, OGR has the sounds we grew up with and new music from the rock stars we know. There is a whole segment of the industry that knows the Boomers and even our own record label (More on that for you lucky listeners). So while you'll hear oldies – you will also be introduced to music that appeals to us who have grown through the ages and still like music. All this given to you by real live DJs not just music rolling by. Give us a visit and find out more!!!
Actual date we come on air is soon, very soon but not yet specific. Stop by www.ourgenerationradio.com and find out more!!
If anyone wants to use it feel free to post in papers both in print and web based.where it can help us --- ByLine = ArJohn
